Seasonistas general thread: yakking, joshing, news and pictures

I realise that, for obvious reasons, this will probably be only of interest to UK based seasonistas and even then maybe only ones who are situated reasonably close to Derbyshire
or are much more intrepid than myself. (Of course it may also be of absolutely no interest to anyone!)
Next month, my little home town of Wirksworth, as part of its annual arts festival, is having its first ukulele festival!
Lots of good stuff, Phil Doleman and Amelia Coburn are performing along with a couple of local (weirdly for such a small town we have two rival factions!) ukulele orchestras and some scruffy toerag in rubbish yellow sunglasses who you might recognise with his band. There are workshops throughout the day with all of the aforementioned and more ukulele based jollity. All the details are on this poster here...

It should be pretty cool and pretty fun! So if anyone does fancy a day of ukulele themed hi jinks in the Derbyshire Dales then it would be awesome to see you!

Cheers

Oooh - I’ve heard them there Wood Street Dogs are a bit special! Can’t quite recall who told me - but I’m sure his name began with a ‘B’! 😆
Just joshing - hope it all goes well, Bobby! Wish I lived a little closer!

I am really very tempted... though like everyone I've been stuck at home so much that I'll visit basically anything these days :). If my teaching timetable works out, I'll be there, and if it doesn't I'll try to be there anyway!

Ah, yes, those fabulous - and soon to be world-famous - "Wood Street Dogs!!" This is brilliant news, Bob ... hope you'll all have a great time!

I posted this video yesterday, but I think it's another one that got swiped/wiped. It is of absolutely no consequence, but I am reposting it simply because it took a while to make - I was trying to capture the spirit of a rather exciting Saturday evening down at our local Mairie, through some stills and bits of video that I took. As you can see, we are an unimaginably sophisticated - not to mention noisy - lot here in deepest France ...

Well this just seems terribly rude.

(Yes, I've been touring the Home of Cricket today. Cricket wasn't in. It was still great. So much history! I have totally nerded out on cricket. I wouldn't normally feel the need to post this here but I know there's an Aussie or two here who will be pleased at this particular gap in the trophy cabinet :))

I wonder if England will erect a statue to the Lionesses for coming second in the World Cup?

Please forgive this blatant effort at self-promotion ... well, not me, actually; more a family promotion! Younger son, Tom and his Kiddos have started a monthly music session and this is their first performance, which has just premiered ... he is looking for subscribers. Amélie is nearly ten, Oscar will turn fourteen in a couple of weeks and Tom is .... older. Proud Mum/Grandma here!

Bon soir from a very warm St Etienne ! Me and OMAHU jr are here in the fan zone to watch Les Bleus vs the All Blacks! Then tomorrow we’ll be in the stadium for Italy v Namibia! Life is good! Allez les Rosbifs!

Ooh, exciting ... Allez Les Rosbifs and Les Bleus! Hope you enjoy the matches! (Actually, I've just Googled and you are a mere 2 hours and 39 minutes away from me ... it's pretty warm here, too!)
