Show us your ukes!

I love how Beansprout uses glorious wood on the fretboard (often carried along to the headstock)! It's such a creative, wonderful touch. I find the dark wood fretboard kinda boring, this is really a neat variation!
The default wood for the fretboard is pistachio. Really quirky and beautiful looking. I'm sometimes vary of non-standard fretboard materials since some woods can be less stable in terms of humidity changes than your standard ebony and rosewood fretboards but thankfully I've experienced no issues with my beansprout. The pistachio fretboard seems to have weathered the dry climate where I live quite well.

Wow your collection is amazing. Can you post pics of your 8 string?
Thanks
Sorry I didn’t see your request before today. I can’t find more than these two at the moment. It’s my 2nd 8 string from Barron River.

Two different 8 strings :ROFLMAO:

Do you have them tuned differently, different size. Wow

There are some gorgeous, classic, and well-loved instruments in this thread. I enjoy seeing them all. We are all fortunate to have what we have. Main thing is, play it and have fun. Then it dawned on me, I didn't include my two. I'm happy where I am with these, in this aspect of my music. Thanks for allowing me to share.

From left to right, an outdoor ukulele tenor, a mango concert from a Philippines ukulele maker Val Ukes, an acacia concert from same maker, an outdoor soprano, and the first ukulele I bought, a cordoba concert ukulele.

I feel I’m really afflicted with UAS, lol, need to set a one-in one out rule soon so I don’t just have a house full of ukes.

I sold the 1st one to a great friend of mine who had lusted over it for years. I made it easy for him to acquire it. That one had the most amazing wood set. Looked like it came from the famous mahogany log that is referred to as “The Tree”.IMG_0698.jpeg

You've come to the right place! I mean... more so to feed your syndrome than to beat it, I think.

How are those Val ukes? I follow 'em on IG, but I've never had the opportunity to play one.

So I have to preface this by saying I’m not very good at playing, but the mango one sounds amazing, deep and resonant and somehow just really really fun. When I first got it, I couldn’t stop playing it, and I’ve been playing it a lot since.

The acacia one is a bit weaker sounding, and has some weird intonation issues especially when I play a D chord. I’ve actually given it away to a friend who was interested in learning to play the ukulele a couple days ago. Perhaps getting a professional setup would have made it play better, but it’s gonna cost more than getting a new one (I have family in the Philippines).

So so far one I feel that I would never part with, and another that I already have given away.
