This is a song about how the guy with the fast car gets the girl, which I guess must have been a theme in car songs since the beginning of cars. Maxwell was a major car manufacturer in the early 20th century, existing from 1904 to 1925. They had major problems in the years following WWI and the failing company was taken over by Chrysler in 1925. Maxwell cars had one innovation that no one else had: they had a shock absorber spring under the radiator to provide additional protection for the radiator from the rough roads. I included a couple of photos of Maxwell cars in the video. In the auto parlance of that time, the "roadster" was a one-seater meant for carrying only two people, while the "touring" was a two-seater that could carry up to three more people in the back seat.

Hello again, Sabine ... this is me coming back FAR too soon; I was supposed to be gardening, but it was too hot! This is a particularly silly song from children's songwriter, Bryant Oden, and since it is about a snail, we are obviously focusing on a distinct lack of speed!

If you could choose a superpower, what would it be? Would you choose to be lightning fast? Well, at least suggesting it makes it fit the theme, but, otherwise, it's not for me, as this song explains...
I vaguely remember discussing this with people recently. Possibly one of the Saturday open mic sessions? Anyway. I'd be happy to have a superpower that doesn't draw attention to myself. Also one that helps me cut down on the caffeine.

a snail had its shell stolen by a bunch of slugs
when asked by the snail police what it could tell them regarding the theft it said
'not much - it all happened so fast'

And talking of snails/slugs, I used to take our late, lamented dog, Clemmie, on a circular walk, down the hill, past a stream, up through another hamlet, down another hill, along the side of another stream, over a bridge and back up another hill to our house. When leaving one morning, I saw a large slug crossing the road and when I came back some forty minutes later, that slug was STILL crossing the road ... all of which proves that slugs don't move with the speed of light; and also, that we don't have much passing traffic!
