SOTU 604 - Love & Heartbreak

I recorded pretty early (to me) this morning before I've even had food in me, just a bit of coffee. I feel like I'm jittering but perhaps it adds a nice vibrato?

This was was on the first pieces I learned on uke as a chorded song, and now am returning to it fingerstyle. The parts near the end where I hold Am and reach up to the 7th fret with my pinky were the trickiest and took a few attempts at recording since I sight read mostly.

Tuesday night update - The playlist has been updated to include all the songs brought in. There's some fantastic brings, you guys! Take a listen when you all have a moment.

I really appreciate you guys taking my prompt and running with it. I feel inspired to pick up my uke once more and record another one for the season, so thanks for sharing your talents and getting me motivated.

I'll see you all in the morning! Goodukeboy & Ruth, I owe you guys some comments on your vids. You both did fabulous, however, YT is being a pain for me this evening and not letting me post. That said, I wanted you guys to know I really enjoyed your music.

604 Here's the updated playlist so you don't have to dig for it

Here's a love song from Oscar the Grouch to his favorite thing.

I'll be seeing you by Billie Holiday. Perhaps a song about lost love on the heartache it entails.

I'll be seeing you
In all the old familiar places
That this heart of mine embraces
All day through
In that small cafe
The park across the way
The children's carousel
The chestnut trees
The wishing well
I'll be seeing you
In every lovely summer's day
In everything that's light and gay
I'll always think of you that way
I'll find you in the morning sun
And when the night is new
I'll be looking at the moon
But I'll be seeing you

Here's Maggie Rogers' "Love You For A Long Time" from 2019. That same year, Rogers was nominated for the Best New Artist Grammy Award.

I've always liked this song so I attempted it despite the pesky E chord. Good practice! ;)

Playlist is now up to date with a few more fantastic tunes. If you haven't given them a listen, then what are you waiting for? I love how much support this community gives each other. Let's continue to inspire and encourage each other!

If I Can Stay Away Long Enough - Benny Martin

A heartbreak song from the pen of Benny Martin. I was in the throws of a breakup when I learned this one in the late seventies.

Benny Martin with ukulele - Benny was a super fiddle player who played with Don Reno, Flatt & Scruggs, The Stanley Brothers, John Hartford and many other bluegrass and country bands. I have only heard him play ukulele on one song, Hillman, on the Slumberin' On The Cumberland LP, but he kills it
