I have been practicing obsessively since I started at the beginning of January and I have made some good progress but I feel like I need to take a next step to go further. I am getting fairly good at the basic chords and chord changes (A, Am, C, C7, E7, Em, G, G7, D, D7 and probably a few others I'm forgetting). I know there is lots of work to do here but I know that will come with time.
I can play a bunch of the basic tabbed songs that I have found, but for many of them, it's hard to tell what song it is without singing (my singing is really really awful and I can't keep time). So with that said, what can I do to make these songs sound more like what they should without singing? Or is singing the only thing I can do to make my family recognize them? Should I start looking into some face to face lessons with someone who can comment on my technique?
I went into this whole uke thing on a whim, and I want to keep things fun but want to continue to progress.
