Where did you buy your uke(s)?

First one, mail order from a guy in Texas, I can't remember his name or his business name.
Second and third ones from local musical instrument stores.

Here, Mims, Uke Republic, Ebay, Craigslist, Ukulele Lab, McCabes

UU Marketplace (2/3 of 60+ Ukuleles)

1st ukulele from Amazon (I know better now)
2nd ukulele from local music store

TUS (The Ukulele Site)
Mims Ukuleles
Ukulele Republic
The Uke Shop
Music Caravan
Ukulele Friend
Bellingham Wind Works

Flea Market Music Marketplace
Facebook Ukulele Marketplace
Ebay
Reverb

Luthiers
Ukulele Makers (Direct from the companies)
My first uke is from the big river store; while I do indeed avoid that eco-behemoth whenever possible I am glad I made that purchase. It's a cheap sturdy very playable little uke, worth the 60 usd paid for it. ;)

All of mine were bought online through UU, FMM, eBay and Reverb. A few on eBay were through dealers. Always a crapshoot when you can't play it first. I've never bought one at a brick & mortar store. Have tried, but we have very few stores nearby with ukes, and they all carry mostly only low end ukes.

UU Marketplace, Mim, Sweetwater, Bounty Music (while visiting Maui) - Current ukes

In the past from Mim, TUS, and Uke Republic

My first I bought from the military exchange, the rest I found in FB marketplace

That I recall:

World of Ukes (four)
Southern Ukulele Store (one)
Direct from Luthier/Manufacturer (one - Beltona)
Private second hand sale (four)
Amazon (one)

UAS in action…

All on-line purchases after many hours of contemplation, phone calls, maybe an email or two, sound samples-where available, and listening to the commentary by musicians and from persons on this forum.

HMS
Luthier Builds ( 3 from Marco Todeschini - Antica Ukuleleria)
Mim
Uke Republic
Aloha City
Kala
The Uke Bug
And the first one was ... a true failure, from Amazon. Didn't even deserve a give-away or wall hanging.

Currently owned ukes:

Flight Travel Soprano (TUS-35) — World of Ukes, U.K. (Paid $7.00 for shipping; received it three days after it left the U.K.)
Kala Long Neck Soprano (KA-SLNG) — Albany Music and Sound (semi-local Oregon music store)
Concert Ukulele (solid yew) — Local Luthier, Dave Thormahlen (Corvallis, Oregon)
KoAloha KCM-00 and KoAloha Opio KCO-10Peripole, Salem (Oregon company serving the needs of music educators and the music community worldwide)

I've bought all but my first ukulele on eBay or Gumtree. I've never been disappointed or had problems with the purchase but some don't sound as good as I had hoped. All for very good prices. Highlights include a Martin T1k, Zachary Taylor tenor, Big Island solid body tenor, Mainland red cedar top concert and a Pono mahogany tenor. I've just now bought on eBay a uke to reward myself for successful back surgery a few weeks ago. It is more than I've ever paid for a uke but the Kamaka hf36 six string looks to be in the top of the ukulele tree. Can't wait.

In order of acquisition:
-My son after he abandoned it for guitar, Oscar Schmidt pineapple
-Saved from the garbage can by my wife, 1918 Martin Style 2 soprano
-Direct from Makai, LT-80
-My wife bought from Guitar Center, Martin T1K
-TUS, Singer RS1K soprano

Excellent experience with TheUkuleleSite and wouldn't hesitate to buy from them again :)

I gotta ask, whose garbage can did your wife save that Martin from?

Congratulations on your successful back surgery. May your recovery be speedy and equally successful.
