Who's going to the Wine Country Ukulele Festival?

Hey folks,
I'm kinda new to UU and would like to meet more of you. What do you think about wearing name tags/arm bands with your screen names. Too corny? Sorry. I'm taking Paul Hemming's Triad Bootcamp, Daniel's improv, and Sara's embellishments.

Since I have a long way to go, I will be staying Sunday night as well.
Anybody up for a Sunday Night jam?
The Gott's event was always Sunday, but this year is Saturday. Maybe we can do pizza and ukulele or something similar.

I'll have a UU shirt on Saturday and a Ukulele Source shirt on Sunday. Stop me and say hi.

See ya there Ken. Looking forward to your classes!

Thanks. I'm looking forward to doing them. See you there.

Awe Ken...one of my favorite people I have ever met behind an Ukulele- be nice to watch you play again

Thank you, D. Thats a generous comment. See you soon.

Please bring lots of Living Water strings with you!

I will. I'll have as many as I can carry, but see me earlier rather than later if you want some.

Looking forward to the hectic and fun weekend in Wine Country.

I will be very busy.

I am in concert on Friday night at the Napa Opera House for the Radio WCUF show featuring Janet Klein and special guest Faith Ako. I am the band leader for the all star house band. Band members are Casey MacGill on uke, cornet and piano, Fred Sokolow on uke, guitar, banjo and mandolin, Elaine Herrick on bass and me on uke, guitar and lap steel guitar.

At the festival I am teaching two workshops:
1. Jive At Five - in two sessions we will learn to play everything about this classsic Count Basie song - the melody, the chords and improvising - believe me, you can do it - it's easy.

2. Swing Sampler - we will learn 2-4 songs which cover the basics of Swing/Jazz. The chord progressions in these songs are used in 99.9999999% of Jazz/Swing and popular 20th century music. This is the Rosetta stone of music.

I will also perform a solo set on Saturday afternoon.

Also note: The big jam at Gott's Roadside in St. Helena has been moved to Saturday night this year. Much better. People will be in more of a partying mood.

See you there!

Mark: I've also been debating whether to bring my baritone in addition to my tenor. I'm so much more comfortable playing in baritone tuning, but all classes are about 'C' tuning and I don't want to play barre chords at the fifth fret all day. I'll use the baritone for jamming. If you bring your baritone, we might be the only two. Hah!
I definitely am looking forward to meeting you on Saturday.

I prefer playing in C but I'm learning to transpose in my head. I seem to be going through a phase where I prefer the sound of a baritone tuned in G.

Alan, I'm also taking Daniel Ho's improv class.

I think someone brought name tags last year, but there really wasn't a central location for UUers to go to pick up a name tag. It might work for UUers going to the Festival to agree upon a location where name tags could be left and UUers could stop by at once in a while to see if other UUers were hanging out there. For example, last year there was a small indoor lobby area between the entrance to the fectival and the door to the outdoor area where the vendors and the stage were. If someone wanted to bring name tags and a marker and leave them on a table or counter in that area, UUers would have a location where they knew they could get a name tag. I have a UU tee shirt, but I'm not generally a tee shirt guy so I don't know if I'll be wearing it.

Maybe Lori (UkeLeash) won't mind us hanging around her booth.

Thanks for the response mds725. I will bring some name tags and maybe Lori will respond by then.

Hi all. Only met a couple of new UU peeps. I'm the big and tall Japanese guy with a graying goatee. Today (Sunday) I'll be wearing a "Ukulele Source" T-shirt. Please stop me and introduce yourself and have a great time!

I had a wonderful time yesterday!!! Took three great classes and met lots of super people. Wish I could go back today, but looks like my schedule won't let me. If anyone is in the Napa area, you should get there today!

I hope someone will post some pics! Wish I could have gone myself.

I met a few UUers yesterday, and I had a chance to visit with Gary and a few other UUers I'd met previously. I'm wearing a navy blue Ukulele Underground t-shirt today and I have salt and pepper (more salt than pepper, actually) hair. Please introduce yourself if you see me. I'll try to get some photos today, although I have a full slate of workshops.
