These are over $1k brand new, I really don't think you'll find one for $500. You may need to up your budget.

I have one I’d sell, but nowhere near $500. I’ve only played it probable 3x. The neck’s a little too wide for my small hands.

It is a baritone, but not conventionally shaped. The shape is such that the effective size of the soundboard is larger, probably contributing to the tonal quality.

Here is a Pono in guitar shape for $550. No connection with the seller. I was considering buying this myself but still have to pay off previous purchases. It's not a Romero, but might do the job.
