I have decided (from many suggestions from others) to start playing with a friend of mine who plays acoustic guitar. We are both advanced beginners (we can strum in time and given a little practice with a song can handle picking a melody as well). And I am looking for recommendations for songs we should learn to play together. Folksy/traditional music would be great. Maybe something with both chords and lead picking part (or at least a song that lends itself to that). But whatever has worked well for you would be appreciated. Thanks.

Stay all night (Bob Wills/ Willie Nelson)

Two chords with lots of picking potential

Here's some traditional contemporary stuff (at least here in Hawaii):
Kiss You in the Morning -Kalaeloa
Baby Can I Hold You Tonight -Tracy Chapman, Arranged by Ale'a
Falling -Keahiwai

And something a little more folksy, although they're probably not what you're looking for lol:
Opihi Man -Ka'au Crater Boys
Tropical Hawaiian Day -Ka'au Crater Boys

These are my personal favorites though. Not really traditional/folksy, but whatevs:
Lemonade -Jeremy Passion
She Was Mine -AJ Rafael
Valerie -Amy Winehouse, Arranged by Aldrine Guerrero

Good luck with your ukulele journey! If you sing, these songs are actually a good place to start. If not, maybe you guys can try your hand at transposition? xD
