Fret sprout remedy…

Hi All,
If you have fret sprout from a dry fretboard, will it reverse if properly humidified? How long would it take, if at all? Would it make more sense to file fret ends (and then properly humidify)?

Well, depends on how low the humidity is now and if you always plan on humidifying it in the future. And also if there is any damage to the rest of the instrument from drying out.

If really bad it can take weeks or even a month to really get it back into shape humidity wise.
It likely didn't happen overnight. Don't try and rush it.

I don't mean to discount what anyone has offered here....but before I go filing on fret ends, I always use fretboard butter. i smear it on real good at each string change, leave it overnight, next day wipe off the excess, of which there is very little.
Don't use lemon oil, it causes the pores in the wood to open up.
