I finally got my Winter Uke finished. It began life as Fluke concert #2502. Although I had planned to paint a winter scene on the top, I discovered that I'm not an artist. What a disappointment!
Falling back on my old practice of printing on sticky vinyl, I found a couple of winter scenes, printed them, and then stuck them on the top. This is easier said than done, especially with a Flea or a Fluke, because you have to work around the bridge and the end of the fretboard. Printing and cutting the individual pieces for the fretboard takes time, but I prefer that to the all-black fretboard and frets. Since the Fluke has an odd-size scale, I can't just replace it with a standard fretboard. I also replaced the tuners with geared tuners. The strings are new D'Addarios.
I bought it used from Reverb, and it has a sticker from The Ukulele House, Honolulu on the back. I don't know if that's where it came from or if the previous owner put it there.
This stick vinyl is great for all sorts of things. Just print and stick.
