Setting a fair price?

I do not agree that the price something sells for is always the "fair" price. Here in California, there is a price gouging law that limits increases to 10% during an emergency, whether it is gasoline, food, water, etc. Many ukuleles have an MSRP as a guide (that is only shown if their sell price is less, though) and that should be a good starting point. I really dislike huge increases that I have seen for certain ukes. Best example is a silver anniversary KoAloha that was/is listed for over $2,000 more than list price and over what other reputable sellers were asking. Yes, it is a limited run and yes, they are now hard to find. But naive buyers are completely unaware that the price is crazy high. That, too me, is not a "fair" price even if someone buys it.

"Let the buyer beware" and "Caveat emptor" are not compatible with "Fair".
