Ain’t nothing wrong with mahogany! It’s affordable and lacks bling but gets the job done. Kamaka, like everyone else at the time, outsourced some production to Japan too. I’m not sure if they were just the “keiki” models, but I think they were mostly mahogany.Yes, that's right. I know that in the 60s they did a run of mahogany sopranos to compete with that lower value market. I have one of them and (blasphemy I know, but) I actually prefer it to the koa.
I wonder if UU has a resident Kamaka expert?
