Weird bumper sticker of the day:
Your post reminded me of this chap, who we met last august. Once we got close enough to take a (rather poor) photo we realised he was happily decapitating a honey bee. They are, as you say, fascinating creatures. One of the things I love about them is the contrast between the way they look and the way they behave. Kind of like a butterfly ordering a steak.

This is the Dragonfly's tiny cousin, a Damselfly. They too are voracious predators. They catch their prey in a deadly embrace with those spiky legs. Only a few lucky Mayflies escape to breed the next generation.
