I'm super excited to demo a Islander Super Tenor AST-4 for several days. This is a laminate acacia Islander with 17" scale but bigger body (especially the lower bout).

Curious what strings you would recommend for this?

I'm looking for a string with good sustain, good low and mids, sounds good for a mix of strumming and fingerpicking, and still sounds good higher up the fretboard.

Thank you! Doug

I have mine strung with Aquila Reds. They give a little extra sustain over the stock Aquilas. I also tuned down to FBbDG which made even more of a difference.

Interesting suggestion to tune down a full step. I'll give that a try
