Another Bob Dylan song, from the 1965 Highway 61 revisited. It's a slight variation on typical 12-bar blues patterns.

The song uses two beats A (2100) then two beats A6 (2120, also called F#min) in a repeating shuffle pattern similar to that used in All Shook Up or some blues songs. Play this line twice after the run on lines 2 and 4 and between verses.

Am11 is just E7 moved up one fret (2303) for two beats. Also usable in blues (and again in All Shook Up).

The C#Dim (0404) to Gaug5sus4 (0303) to Em7 (0202) to A (2100) descent is another popular blues run in this key.

In the second last line, I’ve also heard it sung “Don’t say I never loved you…”

[A]/[A6] Well, I ride on a mail train, mama
[C#Dim] Can’t [Gaug5sus4] buy [Em7] a [A] thrill [A]/[A6]
[A]/[A6] Well, I’ve been up all night, mama, been
[C#Dim] Leanin’ on my [Gaug5sus4] win- [Em7] dow [A] sill [A]/[A6]
[A] Well, if I [A7] die
On [D] top of the [E7] hill [Am11] [E7]
You [A]/[A6] know if I don’t make it
[C#Dim] You know my [Gaug5sus4] ba- [Em7] by [A] will [A]/[A6]

[A]/[A6] Don’t the moon look good, mama
[C#Dim] Risin’ up a- [Gaug5sus4] bove [Em7] the [A] trees? [A]/[A6]
[A]/[A6] Don’t the brakeman look good, mama
[C#Dim] Flagging down the “[Gaug5sus4] Doub- [Em7] le [A] E?” [A]/[A6]
[A] Don’t the sun look [A7] good
Goin’ [D] down over the [E7] sea? [Am11] [E7]
Don’t my [A]/[A6] gal look fine
When she’s [C#Dim] comin’ [Gaug5sus4] af- [Em7] ter [A] me? [A]/[A6]

[A]/[A6] Now the winter time is coming
The [C#Dim] windows are [Gaug5sus4] filled [Em7] with [A] frost [A]/[A6]
[A]/[A6] I went to tell everybody
But I [C#Dim] could not [Gaug5sus4] get [Em7] a- [A] cross [A]/[A6]
[A] Well, I wanna be your lover, [A7] baby
I [D] don’t wanna be your [E7] boss [Am11] [E7]
[A]/[A6] Don’t say I never warned you
[C#Dim] When your [Gaug5sus4] train [Em7] gets [A] lost [A]/[A6]

Thanks - I love this number, and been looking for a good arrangement for a while!
