THR5A vs Katana Mini

I have a Katana mini, but am considering getting a THR5A. I've looked around as much as i can on which one is better, but have only have multiple opinions saying one thing or another. So I'm kinda at a crossroads. I only intend to use the speaker for recording purposes. I know both come with editing software, but the Mini doesn't have it. So far i've only been using audacity for all my recordings while having the mini connected directly to my pc. The problem is that I can't hear what I'm playing while I'm recording. Does the THR's editing software allow that?

Basically two questions:
1) Which of the two is better for recording?
2) Which of them will allow me to hear what I'm playing without having to use a microphone?
