::Leader Board:: Ahnko Honu Takes The Lead Chapter 23!

I had a chicken tender half sandwich for lunch. Better than Chick-fil-a!

But no salt.

I actually made chicken cats out of chicken tenders and then made a half sandwich out of one of them.

Chicken katsu (it autocorrects to "cats") is breaded and fried chicken. Use panko (Japanese breadcrumbs) instead of regular bread crumbs, super crispy but could have used a bit of salt.
Unless you made a sandwich, and then cut it in half, it's not a half sandwich. It's just a small sandwich!

The only reason it's HUGE news is that the Maximum Leader wants it to be so. He thinks the fear he generates will motivate voters in his direction. Yes, it's a real event. But no, it doesn't mean what he thinks it means. Here in AZ a politician against the Stupid Wall is cast by political ads as weak on national security. You are correct that it is dwindling and few will make it to the border. It is also true that it has always been LEGAL for people to arrive at our border and asking for asylum.

Three things (at least) are broken:
1) We haven't given sufficient resources to process asylum claims (our fault). Why shouldn't people want to immigrate to the best country in the world?
2) We have meddled in the politics of the countries asylum seekers are fleeing. Their mess is partially of our making.
3) Shortcut solutions are always appealing. But shortcuts don't fix things; they break them even more.

Does anyone really think that any border can be sealed?

Wag the dog, as they say.

Seriously, their store is huge and I bet they make more money in the market than they do selling gas. Doesn't hurt that it's the only place to get milk and bread within miles.

Did I also mention there are 13 dispensaries, I think 27 liquor stores (more if you count the gas stations) and at least 7 bars within two miles of my house. A grocery store or two wouldn't hurt.

Is it one of those food deserts I read so much about?

I'm really tired of being "that" teacher.

A few years ago I told the admin that you need to spread manure around where it can be of use, because when you dump it in one place whatever's beneath it dies.
I like that metaphor.

Home from the ballgame having taken my MIL & RL Kid. It turned out much better than it might have. Gotta love a park where I can get a Stella instead of a Bud.

My dad tried to order a Stella at the Mexican restaurant. It didn't go well.

B V-B news-
He has a job as a barista at Starbucks. He's just gotten his car registered and insured using his own money. The car has been uninsured since April and out of reg since August. He parked it in a church friend's driveway to stay legal. He's hanging in with Baby Mama and son. It's only been about 3 weeks but this seems like a long stretch for him.

I'm smiling all the way down to my solar plexus.

We'll take what we can get. :)

Actually most trucks now days don't have the standard cab anymore. They are usually have somewhere between a cab and a half to a crew cab. The old standard cab is now a "work" truck I'm told. Pickup trucks used to be some of the most inexpensive full sized vehicles. Now the are beyond what I want to spend on a new vehicle.

Our truck seats 5. I don't even know what that's called.

I shall also be casting my vote on Tuesday. I choose to believe that every vote makes a difference. As least it matter to me.

Sometimes I feel like my vote matters. Sometimes I feel like the little sister who is handed an unplugged video game controller while the big kids do the actual playing.

Last night to hide from trick or treaters we went out to dinner at an Italian restaurant that I used to love. Can't have pizza, basically can't have a red sauce, can't even have a salad there because of their dressing. I ordered a spaghetti bolognese with a meatball. James ordered a kids ravioli tossed in butter with no sauce. When it came the waitress put our dishes in front of us and James and I promptly switched plates. "He changed his mind?" Something like that.

I've been doing that a lot lately. Having James order a kids meal and then we switch, otherwise I have to be disciplined enough to only eat half a portion or less. I finally figured out there is more I can eat as long as my portions are small. If a meal had 1000mg of salt and I'm trying to stay under 600mg per meal, I just eat half. I eat half anyway but every once in a while I order something with flavor now.

Sucks about seafood. I love seafood and meat but yeah, I've cut way back too. For lunch today I brought about 2 oz. of steak that I'll make half a sandwich with and then about a quart bag of steamed broccoli and an apple. I probably won't eat all of the broccoli but I'll snack on it if I get hungry between meals.

That switcharoo is a clever idea.

When I was a kid, we considered trick-or-treating cool.....up until the age of about 12. We would have made fun of any of our peers going out once they were teens.

Times change. Many kids go out well into their teens now....

My policy was "if there's a -teen in your age, then you can only go if you're escorting a child". Shaye loves to trick or treat, so she spend most of them herding around her step-siblings.

I've been called in to work this afternoon, although today is normally a day off for me. The other driver (who didn't show up Tuesday or Wednesday) says he doesn't feel well, and wants to go home.

The good news is that we have a new driver starting Monday, and I get to train him. I should be able to have him close to being up to speed before I leave for Florida.

If he pans out well, they should put him on full time and fire the other guy....

You're training the new guy to speed? Is this Mr. McFeely's delivery service?

All caught up. Off to the rain locker. Hugo and I have been biking in the mornings. I'm not at a good place with my weight, so this is good for both of us.

I'd bring up how uniforms are also a mask. IE military. We do things in uniform we'd never do in jeans, due to a manufactured sense of tribalism.

and anonymity. You all dress alike, someone else is justifying your actions, part of a group, etc.

We had a great discussion in two classes. I brought up the Nazi guards that turned the valve to gas the prisoners to make things uncomfortable. In two classes it generated great discussion but one class talked superficially the whole time and stuck to how the characters behaved in the study.
